This exhibition is to establish an annual platform that celebrates Black and Mixed Origin rAtistic excellence, supports emerging and established artists, and creates lasting partnerships between artists, communities, galleries, collectors and businesses.
We celebrate Black and Mixed Origin creativity during Black History Month while helping to strengthen London’s contemporary arts landscape.

 

GALLERY46 is proud to present ‘The Seeds We Carry’, a professionally curated group exhibition presented by The Seed House Collective in celebration of Black History Month 2026, responding to this year’s theme, Honouring Our Communities. Bringing together emerging and established Black and mixed-heritage artists from London and the South East of England, the exhibition celebrates the breadth and diversity of contemporary Black and MIxed Origin Artistic practice across PAINTING, DRAWING, SCULPTURE, PHOTOGRAPHY, INSTALLATION, MOVING IMAGE, FILM, VIDEO and INTERDISCIPLINARY work.

Through a wide range of artistic perspectives, ‘The Seeds We Carry’ explores identity, heritage, culture, resilience, belonging and the cultural legacies that continue to shape Black and mixed-heritage communities across generations. The exhibition provides a platform for artists to Exhibit and sell their work while creating meaningful connections with collectors, curators, cultural organisations and new audiences, honouring the richness and vitality of contemporary Black art.

Artist Open Call

A public call-out will invite Black and Mixed Origin artists to submit work for consideration.

Eligibility

  • Black and Mixed Origin Artists in the UK
  • All visual art disciplines welcomed, including:
    • Painting
    • Drawing
    • Photography
    • Sculpture
    • Printmaking
    • Mixed Media
    • Textile Art
    • Illustration
    • Installation

Application Fee

  • Application fee: £60

The application fee will support administration, promotion and cover exhibition costs.
